Quite possibly the closest cricket ground to an airport in the world, the convenience of walking 100-yards from the grassy embankment to check-in for the flight to the next game, then walking the 100-yards back to the pavilion pub to wait for the flight, would make cricket in Antigua the greatest pleasure outside the game itself.
WEST INDIES GREAT MICHAEL HOLDING INVITES ALL FLAGGERS TO JAMAICA (ANTIGUA and BARBADOS too!)!
Alas the Stanford Cricket Ground, 100-yards from the terminal, is not built for international Test or One Day cricket therefore island hopping Flaggers must now venture to Sir Vivian Richards Stadium to enjoy the pleasures of Test and One Day Cricket, built to help the Caribbean celebrate the 2007 World Cup! No where near as intimate as the historic Recreation Ground, life away from the game is just as special in Antigua and we have shed loads of fun scheduled around the island to make the most of nocturnal adventures!
Antigua is one of the favoured Caribbean destinations. Maybe it's Chickie's Disco thumping out tunes all day, or the party and beach cricket at what used to be 'Lashings' that goes through the night until the players take the field the next day? Who really knows what makes Antigua tick besides the cricket, but you will feel something special when you get there that, like every other island, will make Antigua stand out, much like a 747 parked at fine leg! THE NEW SIR VIVIAN RICHARDS STADIUM - Match Day transfers are included to and from this new venue smack, bang, in the middle of the island. Luke Gillian 03/12/2007 03:36:55
