Australia Flag From the flag of Phil 'Dr Jones' Robertson (Flagger since 2003)

My experience with The Flag relates to tours undertaken in the Caribbean (2003), Sri Lanka (2004), India (2004), South Africa (2006), Bangladesh (2006) and also at many venues in Australia where I have had the opportunity to informally enjoy the company of many people that I met on overseas tours.

I also plan to travel with The Flag for future Australian cricket tours to India and Pakistan. From my considerable experience with The Flag I can only endorse the operations in the highest manner. Being a 58 year old retired school principal and a frequent traveler in South East Asia and South America for over 30 years, I am enormously impressed with the level of planning which goes into each tour.

I am also very keen on the fact that the tour experience takes place further “down the cultural chain” as it were. Unlike other tour groups (as a contrast, having done one official tour, I will not repeat the experience) WTF promotes interaction with host cultures rather than building barriers.

The Flag tour groups have the flexibility, opportunity and encouragement to interact closely with the host culture by choice of accommodation, transport options, ground ticket selection and a wide variety of optional tours and activities offered.

Tours are a fabulous value for money experience. Variable levels of support are offered by WTF to the touring individuals with those required more guidance having their needs met in a comprehensive way. Those who are comfortable with more independence certainly find their own room to move.

Whilst fun is certainly high on the agenda I have been impressed with the responsible approach taken by the tour leadership. Sportsmanship of the highest order is promoted and expected. Everyone has a place in the touring group, with demographics ranging from the younger traveler through to the retired folk (both male and female) like myself. I’d be very happy to provide additional information or answer questions.

Australia Flag THE FLAG MISSION

“The purpose of Waving The Flag is to encourage more people to travel globally to support and express their pride in Australia and Australian Cricket in a fashion that does not isolate from the cultural or sporting influences that make each cricket tour unique, whilst promoting and maintaining positive social and sporting relations between Australia and the countries we visit.”
