| From the flag of Andy Bichel Australian Test Cricketer |
Haven't things changed in World cricket? It is so easy to travel this days, no-body thinks twice. Back in 1992 I took my first trip to England, my first overseas experience, and have been travelling and playing cricket ever since.
My first Australian experience was to South Africa in 1997. What brillant tour. This was first time I had seen Luke and a couple mates waving that great Aussie Flag so high. For me, a young player on tour, my first thought was 'isn't that great, we're in another country and these guys have travelled to watch us'. I can honestly say there were not many Aussie flags so Luke's did stand out, and still does more than 10years later.
Now there are so many different travel companies from Australia getting that same experience you guys had for many years before, that 'in the crowd, mixing with their supporters'. Not all supporters have done it like you guys, and the best way to make friends around the world is to actually do what you guys have done.
From my first experience whereever and whenever I've seen Luke and Waving The Flag I've always acknowledged their support for the team. Standing at the top of my mark ready to bowl, I've never once struggled for motivation (especially needed in Sharjah 2002), hearing Luke and seeing his Flag and all the other Flags in the group, waving ever so high in another country around the world; it was always a sensational feeling. The Aussie flag amongst the opposition was a fantastic sight from where I stood.
Well done to everyone from Waving The Flag that has been apart of my career, thanks for your support over the years. If I had a flag in hand at the top of my mark, I'd have been waving it right back at you. May The Flag and Luke grow stronger and stronger. Keep those flags flying high where you may be around the world.
All the Best in the Future,
