| From the flag of Cris & Sandi King (Flaggers since 2008) |
After touring with Waving the Flag in the West Indies in 2008, Sandi and I were keen to tour again. So when the Jolly Jumbo Tour of Sri Lanka for 2011 was posted on the Flag Website, with a comprehensive preposed itinerary, by Luke, it was just a matter of arranging holidays and adding our names to the list of starters. Luke’s professionalism and communication in keeping us informed on any itinerary changes (made by Sri Lanka cricket- beyond Luke’s control) and updates was brilliant.
His meet & greet is also a uniquely personable touch to the whole tour. After many hours of travel by most flaggers to get to Colombo and arriving at midnight or later and be greeted by the welcoming broad smile of our tour leader is a reassuring sign of the fun and adventure ahead. This is followed up with transport to the hotel and a stock of “Cold Beer” or local Arrack for the journey.
The header on his Web page of “Fun and Affordable Cricket Tours” is spot on. We had heaps of fun with a broad range of like minded people interested in following Australian Cricket around the world. And it was very affordable as Luke does plenty of research and negotiation pre tour to ensure Flaggers get the best value for money in all aspects of the tour.
As we travelled to the cities of Colombo, Galle and Kandy with as many as 80 Flaggers, it was always a fun and friendly environment to be in. Many of the Flaggers were repeating their Flagging experience for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th time. This in itself is a testament to Luke and the exceptional tour experience he provides.
We would highly recommend Waving the Flag to any cricket lover wanting to watch test cricket in a distant country and always be in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. We will certainly be Flagging again in the future.
