Barbados Flag AUSTRALIA IN THE WEST INDIES 2012

THIS WEBPAGE IS INVALID ARCHIVED INFORMATION ONLY, AND NOT AVAILABLE ON THE HOME PAGE. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!

West Indies great, Michael Holding invites all Flaggers to Jamaica (received prior to our 2008 Tour)

Barbados I know The Flag has toured many places but have you toured the Caribbean?'

YES!

West Indies Cricket Board Logo As an Official West Indies Cricket Board Tour Operator for the series, The Flag looks forward to stepping back on familiar sands as the Caribbean was where The Flag (Lukey Sparrow) started in 1995 so this tour will always be personal. In fact I (Sparrow) have been to and seen Australia compete in ALL test nations and remains the only Australian spectator to have done so. No different to any other, your West Indies 2012 'Sugar Caned' Tour will be Flagged by myself with the assistance of several regular Flaggers.

The Flag has enjoyed Caribbean cricket, personal and research missions in 1995, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008 with another pre-tour early in 2012. With what is sure to be more than 50 years 'Flagging' between us, be assured our experienced built tour will live with you for a very long time.

Testimonial from Neil Linklater -

"I want to thank you for the most fantastic time I had on your "Jolly Jumbo" tour of Sri Lanka. From the moment you picked me up at 2.20am..., I've never laughed, sweated, laughed, drank and sweated again with so many fantastic people..., most on their 4th or more tour." Read more...

Grenada OK, so knowing you have been to Caribbean heaps, I believe you know what there is know, but what does The Flag do for my tour, and why should I tour with The Flag?

The Flag welcomes everyone that wants to enjoy Australia Cricket overseas. We go great lengths to ensure everyone has a great time, feels comfortable with the group and where we are, and are receiving what we believe is exceptional value for money.

The Flag has a reputation of creating informal tours so everyone 18 - 98 (under 18's with legal guardian) is welcome to tour for as long as it suits. We create match-by-match options for every game, allowing you to join us at just one match, or all of them. Simply select the Tour Options you want to enjoy with us and we'll meet you at the airport, get you to the hotel, to the cricket and back, to the beach, and the bar where The Flag's party gurus will have nightly events organised, and heaps of other stuff.

We create commemorative tour shirts, give you an Australian Flag to show your support, get you a local sim card to keep friends & family back home in touch & jealous, host at least two dinner parties through each option and be there to help you maximise your time with us on this spectacular tour.

We include a fantastic snorkelling cruise to Tobago Cays, and volcano hike, in St Vincent, a full day trip to the famous Pitons and hot springs, and a sunset cruise in St Lucia, and a 'party cruise' in Barbados the day after the test, visit Maracas beach in Trinidad the day before the 2nd test, and maybe do some hiking in Dominica after the 3rd Test to walk off that all Sugar Cane! Oh, we love golf too and will tee-up where and when we can. Otherwise, you're free to do as you please, if there's time!

Instead of the 3-day Tour game, we have a 5night add-on tour to the brilliant half-French half-Dutch island of St Martin/Maarten before the 1st Test. This was sublime in 2008 and should not be missed for style, food, culture, and the 'Sunset Beach Bar' under final approach to Princess Juliana International Airport! Awesome! Be inspired by our 2008 St Martin/Maarten photos and join us there!

Speaking of planes, keep in mind we do not include ANY flights in any tour option, you get these yourself and join us there. The inter-islands flights I am on are listed on each tour option. Do your best to book the same but don't worry if you can't, we will still meet you there (except if you arrive 1 day or more before your tour option commences).

We take care of your hotel, match tickets, transfers, tour merchandise, entertainment options, provide indepth online tour information and importantly remain flexible to your wonts. A key Flagger will be available 24/7 to maintain our reputation of removing simple organisational burdens helping to make your tour, YOUR TOUR! If there is anything else you want to know about your tour, please contact us!

We believe that everything we do for you, the standard of hotels, the warming meet & greet, the transfers, activities and entertainment we organise, and everything else we give in return for you choosing to tour with us are all great reasons for your Flagging. When you meet the Flaggers that have toured time and again you will appreciate even more your decision to come with us.

Since 2001 The Flag has taken great steps to involve everyone in our tours to maximise your enjoyment with the people you tour with and the investment you make in your tour. Since 2001 we've built a great family of Flaggers & friends whom tour year after year, enjoying our tours provided for everyone. Our Sugar Caned Tour will be just as special with a wealth of experienced Flaggers to welcome you.

So you know our history, THE FLAG has been involved on these international cricket tours:

"We considered that tour (India) was extremely well organised with great accomodation and for a very reasonable price so we booked on the recent tour to Sri Lanka. Again the accomodation was perfect and sensational meals included. We think a great benefit of touring with WTF is the flexible schedule so everyone can design their own tour within other travel if desired." Read more...

We would recommend Waving the Flag to anyone wishing to be part of a group following the Australian team." Read more...

St Vincent & Grenadines Most Flaggers only want to know what's included, but I must say and for the record that the following ARE NOT INCLUDED in any tour option.

It is generally understood that everything in the 'what's included in my tour' is what you get, but to re-affirm our position for the sake of anyone that doesn't read the full Tour Program, we do not include:

Passports & Visas (Trinidad)
Flights of any kind (intercontinental or inter-island)
Travel insurance
Credit on your included local mobile SIM card
Dinner (except 2 tour dinners as listed) and lunch
Match tickets into the 'Party Stands'

Jamaica I know the hotels are included in the tour, but what are the standards & inclusions, how many nights are included, and though travelling alone can I still twin share?

The Flag is staying in fantastic 3 star hotels all of which we have stayed in 2003 and/or 2008 (pending schedule of that year - but they're welcoming us back!) or visited on research visits (Dominica).

Each ODI/T20 Hotel Tour Options is for 7-nights and include the 2 nights before the first match, and 5 nights encompassing the three games, to depart the day after the 3rd match.

Each Test Match Hotel Tour Option is for 8nights and include the 2 nights before the Test Match, the 5nights of the Test Match, and 1 night after the Test Match.

Each hotel has A/C, swimming pools, restaurants, and bars, with breaky included in all hotels. If you are travelling alone we recommend twin sharing as the single accommodation is the same cost per room so we must charge a Aud$640 supplement per person per Test Tour Option, and Aud$560 supplement per person per ODI/T20 Tour Option. If you're Flagging alone and want to twin share, just select the twin share option on the booking and we'll partner you with another solo Flagger. Done!

Testimonial from Fiona Stanley and David Air -

"The other Flaggers were people we wanted to be with. They were people from 18 to 70 years who were just as passionate about cricket as us. Luke's passion for the game was infectious and the Flag tour was organised to a level that we wanted. We didn't want someone to hold our hand, but rather give us help to experience cricket in other countries." Read more...

Trinidad & Tobago I like what The Flag does and what I get in my tour, but how do I reach the Caribbean, how do I get about the islands, and are any flights included?

NO!

To make it patently clear, Waving The Flag is not a licensed Travel Agent, therefore do not include international or domestic travel in any tour! You must book flights to, from, and through the West Indies with your preferred ATOL registered Travel Agent or Airline, and we'll see you there!!

We have learned that allowing Flaggers to book their own flights at their preferred time with their preferred airline has been one of the many big drawcards of Flagging. It helps keep your tour cost down as we don't charge 'added value' for including a flight. In short, you get there and we will meet you at the airport which is when your tour will start.

There are many ways to reach the Caribbean with innumerable flight options from North America or Europe. For those thinking the Caribbean is like Greece with countless ferries plying the waters, you are mistaken. Flying is the only option to get between the (cricket) islands.

All inter-island flights that I (Sparrow) am booked are listed on each tour option if you wish to book the same. It doesn't matter if you don't as I arrive on the first flight in on most islands so will be there to greet you when you do finally turn up! Remember, you book your preferred flight not mine.

There are 2 major island airlines and one new 'low cost' carrier. L.I.A.T. connects 23 Eastern Caribbean islands, plus Guyana, whereas Caribbean Airlines connect the bigger Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad, St Martin, and Guyana. Recently formed Red Jet conveniently only connects a few islands including Barbados & Trinidad.

Guyana Knowing each island is an independent country, do I need a visa to enter any island?

YES!

Tourist visas are required for Australian passports for entry into Trinidad & Tobago. As of November 11, 2011 St Lucia entry visas are no longer for Australian passport holders. Fanastic! Now all we need is Trinidad to see the light!

Trinidad & Tobago Visa Waiver (TT$400/US$65*) can be applied for on arrival. But you must research your own visa application information on:

Trinidad & Tobago Flag Trinidad & Tobago High Commission UK

*US$65 just to be 'waived' a visa?!! You can't enter without one so isn't that a visa?

Guyana This is sounding fantastic. I know I get my own flights and you have great hotels, but I want to confirm if match tickets and match day transfers are included in my tour?

YES, to both!

The Flag will purchase from the West Indies Cricket Board on your behalf (and everyone listed on your booking) match tickets for each day of each Test Match Option and ODI/T20 Tour Option you have booked, even if are taking our ticket & party option only. The tickets are in areas shaded for most of if not all of the day and will be issued at our pre-match party when you also receive your tour merchandise.

Caribbean cricket has tiered pricing, which means as a visitor we pay a surcharge (not included on the ticket) to watch the same game. There is no way around this, it's a fact of West Indies cricket life. Please also note, in the advent of cricket being washed out or abandoned, there is refund on any ticket. This is part of the T&C's of my ticket purchase for you, and you Flagging with us.

As many hotels are a distance from the ground match day transfers are included (except Trinidad) in all Hotel Options, to and from the venue. Timings will be detailed at the party. If you're enjoying our Ticket Party Option please remember that HOTEL, AIRPORT AND MATCH TRANSFERS AREN'T INCLUDED and we are not responsible for any great distance you might have to travel to collect your tickets.

Guyana It's brilliant that match tickets are included as I don't want the hassle of buying them at the time, but can I get the all-inclusive 'Party Stand' tickets I've heard about?

YES!

The match tickets included in your tour are for seats in our chosen stands and do not give access to the 'Party Stands'. On any day you can buy (additional cost to you) tickets to the party stands. Most Flaggers have always enjoyed at least one 'party day' through the Test match with reports (after 2 or more days) that one-day is usually enough, but that's up to you. We don't include Party Stand tickets because most Flaggers go to enjoy the game (with their own rum), and party long & hard afterwards (if they wish)!!

St Vincent & Grenadines I understand there are lots of things to do in the Caribbean, so what can you suggest?

Without bias, you shouldn't go past our 5-night St Martin/Maarten Option :

The gourmet & plane spotting capital of the Caribbean is the #1 'off island' suggestion, easily reached from Antigua and St Kitts with a 30mins flight. This add-on tour will have us enjoy 5nights on the world's smallest 'shared land mass'.

Landing in Dutch St Maarten and living in French St Martin, aside plane spotting while sunning our booties on Maho Beach at Princess Juliana Airport, there's incredible duty free shopping in Phillipsburg, diving in some the Caribbean's finest waters, indulging in the culinary wizardry of Marigot and BBQ shacks of Grand Case, deepening the all-over tan on Orient Beach, and visiting the exclusive nearby islands of Saba, St Barts, and independent Anguilla to help tick off 4 new countries with one trip!

From blow your hair back airline arrivals to nudist beaches, over-indulgent happy hours to sumptuous a-la-carte restaurants, from cafe au lait to Dutch language faux pas, St Martin/Maarten, C'est Lekker (It's good! I mean, really good!)!

Enjoy our 2008 St Martin/Maarten photos on Facebook (you don't need to be a user).

Australia Knowing anything can happen anywhere, I'd like to know if the is Caribbean safe?

It's not for me to say any place is 'safe' because as you know anything can happen whether by design or accident. The Caribbean is laid back, welcoming, and breathtaking in a fashion India is not yet each and every island, their culture, politics, and society is different. No one is immune to incident therefore before choosing to join The Flag in the Caribbean, independent travel advice regarding health, safety, and security across the West Indies should be obtained through Australia's DFAT website:

Trinidad & Tobago I believe all the important things are covered but do you need more information?

This will be a BRILLIANT tour with all angles covered for all parties and parties of all angles. We want you to feel comfortable with your decision to tour, and want to know we have answered query such as group rates, or bringing kids, so prior to booking we're happy to answer any tour question you have, if you ask.
